Xylazine (as hydrochloride) .................... 20 mg

Indications

XYLANOR® 2 Injection is indicated for:

• Sedation

• Analgesia

• Muscle relaxation

• Facilitation of minor surgical and diagnostic procedures

• Pre-anesthetic medication

• Animal restraint and handling

Target Species

• Cattle

• Sheep

• Goats

• Camels

• Horses

• Dogs (according to veterinary judgment)

Mechanism of Action

Xylazine stimulates α2-adrenergic receptors in the central nervous system, resulting in sedation, analgesia, and muscle relaxation through inhibition of norepinephrine release.

Dosage & Administration

For intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection
(IV administration should be slow).

Cattle

• 0.02–0.1 mg/kg body weight

Sheep & Goats

• 0.05–0.2 mg/kg body weight

Camels

• 0.2–0.4 mg/kg body weight

Horses

• 0.5–1.1 mg/kg body weight

Dogs

• 0.5–1 mg/kg body weight

📌 Dosage depends on desired depth of sedation and animal condition.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to xylazine

• Late-stage pregnancy (risk of uterine contractions)

• Animals with severe respiratory or cardiac disorders

• Intestinal obstruction

Side Effects

• Bradycardia

• Hypotension

• Salivation

• Ruminal tympany (in ruminants)

• Transient hyperglycemia

⚠️ Effects are dose-dependent.

Withdrawal Period

(Indicative – subject to local regulations)

• Meat:
  Cattle, sheep & goats: 1–3 days

• Milk:
  24 hours

Special Warnings

• Use under veterinary supervision only

• Avoid overdosing

• Provide adequate monitoring during sedation

• Antagonists (e.g. yohimbine, atipamezole) may be used if required

Storage Conditions

• Store below 25°C

• Protect from light

• Do not freeze

• Keep out of reach of children

Shelf Life

• 24 months from date of manufacture

• Use immediately after first opening
