Therapeutic Class

Macrolide antibiotic.

Indications

TILMINOR® 25 Oral Liquid is indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections caused by tilmicosin-sensitive microorganisms, including:

• Chronic respiratory disease (CRD)

• Mycoplasma infections

• Pasteurellosis

• Colibacillosis associated with respiratory disease

• Bacterial pneumonia

• Secondary respiratory infections

Target Species

• Poultry (broilers, breeders*)

• Calves

• Sheep & goats

*Use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption according to local regulations.

Mechanism of Action

Tilmicosin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, providing bacteriostatic to bactericidal activity against respiratory pathogens, especially Mycoplasma and Pasteurella species.

Dosage & Administration

For oral administration via drinking water.

Poultry

• 15–20 mg tilmicosin/kg body weight/day
  (Equivalent to 0.6–0.8 ml per liter of drinking water)
  for 3–5 consecutive days

Calves, Sheep & Goats

• 10–15 mg tilmicosin/kg body weight
  Once daily for 3–5 days

📌 Ensure medicated water is the only source of drinking water.
📌 Shake well before use.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to macrolides

• Do not use in horses (risk of severe toxicity)

• Avoid use in animals receiving other macrolide antibiotics

Side Effects

• Generally well tolerated when administered orally

• Rare mild gastrointestinal disturbances

Withdrawal Period

(Indicative – subject to local regulations)

• Meat:
  Poultry: 7–10 days
  Ruminants: 14–21 days

• Eggs:
  Not approved for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption

Special Warnings

• Do not administer by injection (oral use only)

• Avoid prolonged or unnecessary use

• Observe antimicrobial stewardship principles
