Indications
SULFANOR® 33 Injection is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by sulfadimidine-sensitive microorganisms, including:
Respiratory tract infections
Gastrointestinal infections
Enteritis and diarrhea
Septicemia
Coccidiosis (systemic support)
Urinary tract infections
Metritis
Wound and soft tissue infections
Target Species
Cattle
Sheep
Goats
Camels
Horses
Dogs (according to veterinary judgment)
Mechanism of Action
Sulfadimidine inhibits bacterial folic acid synthesis by competing with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), resulting in a bacteriostatic effect against susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.
Dosage & Administration
For intramuscular (IM) or slow intravenous (IV) injection.
Initial dose:
100 mg sulfadimidine/kg body weight
(Equivalent to 1 ml per 3–4 kg body weight)Maintenance dose:
50 mg/kg body weight
Once daily for 2–4 days
📌 Ensure adequate hydration during treatment.
📌 For IV use, administer slowly.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides
Severe renal or hepatic impairment
Dehydrated animals
Do not use in animals with blood dyscrasias
Side Effects
Transient injection site pain
Crystalluria if hydration is insufficient
Rare allergic reactions
Withdrawal Period
