Sulfadoxine 20% & Trimethoprim 4% Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Sulfadoxine ........................................ 200 mg

  • Trimethoprim ..................................... 40 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Potentiated sulfonamide antibacterial.


Indications

SULFANOR T is indicated for the treatment and control of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to sulfonamides and trimethoprim, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections

  • Gastrointestinal infections

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Septicemia

  • Secondary bacterial infections

The long-acting sulfonamide provides sustained antibacterial activity.

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels


Mechanism of Action

  • Sulfadoxine inhibits folic acid synthesis in bacteria.

  • Trimethoprim blocks dihydrofolate reductase.

This dual sequential blockade results in bactericidal synergistic action.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 1 ml per 15–20 kg body weight

  • Single dose or once daily for 2–3 days, depending on severity

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Subcutaneous (SC)

⚠️ Ensure adequate hydration during treatment.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or trimethoprim

  • Severe liver or kidney disorders

  • Dehydrated animals


Side Effects

  • Mild swelling or pain at injection site

  • Rare allergic reactions


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 21 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 14 days

  • Milk:

    • Not permitted for use in lactating animals

  • Do not freeze
