Spectinomycin & Lincomycin Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Spectinomycin
    (as dihydrochloride pentahydrate) .......... 100 mg

  • Lincomycin
    (as hydrochloride) ..................................... 50 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Combination antibacterial (Aminocyclitol + Lincosamide).


Indications

SPECTINOR L is indicated for the treatment and control of bacterial respiratory and systemic infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to Spectinomycin and Lincomycin, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections (CRD, pneumonia)

  • Mycoplasma infections

  • Colibacillosis

  • Salmonellosis

  • Secondary bacterial infections associated with viral diseases

  • Poultry

  • Cattle

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels


Mechanism of Action

  • Spectinomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, particularly effective against Mycoplasma and Gram-negative bacteria.

  • Lincomycin inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, effective against Gram-positive bacteria and Mycoplasma.

The combination provides a broad-spectrum synergistic effect, especially in respiratory infections.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 1 ml per 10–20 kg body weight

  • Once daily for 3–5 days

Poultry:

  • 0.5–1 ml per liter of drinking water

  • For 3–5 consecutive days

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Drinking water (for poultry)

⚠️ Follow veterinary guidance and local regulations.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to lincosamides or spectinomycin

  • Do not use in animals with severe hepatic dysfunction


Side Effects

  • Mild local irritation at injection site

  • Rare gastrointestinal disturbances

If severe reactions occur, discontinue treatment and consult a veterinarian.


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 21 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 14 days

    • Poultry: 7 days

  • Milk:

    • Not permitted for use in lactating animals
