Composition

Each ml contains:
Procaine Penicillin G ............................. 200,000 IU
Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate ............... 250 mg
Excipients .................................................. q.s. to 1 ml

Indications

PENOR-D® Injection is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by penicillin- and streptomycin-sensitive organisms, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections

  • Mastitis

  • Metritis

  • Foot rot

  • Enteritis

  • Septicemia

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Wound and post-operative infections


Target Species

  • Cattle

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels

  • Horses (according to veterinary judgment)


Mechanism of Action

  • Procaine Penicillin G inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, providing strong bactericidal activity mainly against Gram-positive bacteria.

  • Dihydrostreptomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, extending activity against Gram-negative organisms.

The combination provides broad-spectrum synergistic antibacterial action.


Dosage & Administration

For intramuscular (IM) injection only.

  • General dosage:
    1 ml per 20–25 kg body weight

  • Frequency:
    Once daily for 3–5 consecutive days, depending on severity.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillins or aminoglycosides

  • Renal impairment

  • Do not administer intravenously

  • Do not use in animals with known β-lactam allergy


Side Effects

  • Local injection site reactions

  • Rare allergic reactions

  • Nephrotoxicity with excessive or prolonged use


Withdrawal Period

(Indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:
    Cattle, sheep & goats: 14–21 days

  • Milk:
    5–7 days


Special Warnings

  • Avoid prolonged or repeated use

  • Do not use concurrently with other nephrotoxic drugs

  • Observe antimicrobial stewardship principles


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze

  • Keep out of reach of children


Shelf Life

  • 24 months from date of manufacture

  • Use within 28 days after first opening
