Oxytetracycline 10% Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Oxytetracycline (as hydrochloride) .......... 100 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Broad-spectrum antibiotic (Tetracycline group).


Indications

OXYNOR 10 is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to oxytetracycline, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections

  • Gastrointestinal infections

  • Septicemia

  • Mastitis

  • Metritis

  • Foot rot

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Secondary bacterial infections

  • Cattle

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels


Mechanism of Action

Oxytetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing amino acid incorporation and bacterial growth.
It exhibits bacteriostatic activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, rickettsia, chlamydia, and mycoplasma.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 5–10 mg Oxytetracycline/kg body weight

  • (Equivalent to 1 ml per 10–20 kg body weight)

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Subcutaneous (SC)

Treatment duration: 3–5 days, or as directed by the veterinarian.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines

  • Do not use in animals with severe liver or kidney dysfunction

  • Avoid use in animals producing milk for human consumption unless approved


Side Effects

  • Local irritation or swelling at injection site

  • Rare hypersensitivity reactions


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 21–28 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 14–21 days

  • Milk:

    • Not permitted for use in lactating animals


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze
