PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASS
Synthetic prostaglandin F₂α (PGF₂α) analogue.
INDICATIONS
NORFLOSTEN® is indicated for use in cattle, sheep, and goats for:
Synchronization of estrus
Treatment of luteal cysts
Induction of estrus
Termination of abnormal or unwanted pregnancy (within approved gestational limits)
Treatment of pyometra and chronic endometritis with functional corpus luteum
Induction of parturition (where indicated)
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Cloprostenol is a potent analogue of prostaglandin F₂α that induces luteolysis by causing regression of the corpus luteum. This results in a rapid decline in progesterone levels, leading to estrus or parturition depending on the reproductive status of the animal.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Route: Intramuscular (IM)
Cattle: 2 ml per animal (500 µg cloprostenol)
Sheep & Goats: 0.5 – 1 ml per animal (125–250 µg cloprostenol)
⏱ Estrus usually occurs within 2–5 days after treatment.
Repeat treatment may be required based on veterinary assessment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in pregnant animals unless pregnancy termination or parturition induction is required.
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to prostaglandins.
WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS
Cloprostenol can be absorbed through the skin.
Women of childbearing age, asthmatics, or individuals with respiratory disorders should avoid handling the product.
Avoid accidental self-injection.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Mild transient discomfort at injection site
Temporary increase in respiratory rate or sweating may occur
