Levamisole 10% Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Levamisole (as hydrochloride) .......... 100 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Anthelmintic – Immunomodulator.


Indications

LEVANOR 10 is indicated for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal and lung nematode infections, and for immune system stimulation, in animals infected with Levamisole-susceptible parasites, including:

  • Roundworms (Nematodes)

  • Lungworms

  • Mixed parasitic infestations

It is also used as a supportive immunostimulant to enhance resistance to infections.

Mechanism of Action

Levamisole causes paralysis of nematodes by acting on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, leading to expulsion of parasites.
It also stimulates cell-mediated immunity, improving immune response.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 7.5 mg Levamisole/kg body weight

  • (Equivalent to 1 ml per 13–15 kg body weight)

Route of Administration:

  • Subcutaneous (SC)

  • Intramuscular (IM)

Usually administered as a single dose.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to levamisole

  • Do not use in severely stressed or debilitated animals

  • Do not use concurrently with organophosphate insecticides


Side Effects

  • Transient salivation

  • Muscle tremors

  • Mild excitement or restlessness (rare)

These effects are usually temporary.


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 7–10 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 7 days

  • Milk:

    • According to local regulations

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze
