Ketoprofen 10% Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Ketoprofen ........................................ 100 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).


Indications

KETONOR 10 is indicated for the treatment of inflammation, pain, and fever associated with various conditions in animals, including:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders

  • Lameness

  • Mastitis (as supportive therapy)

  • Respiratory diseases (anti-inflammatory support)

  • Post-operative pain

  • Trauma and soft tissue injuries


Target Species

  • Cattle

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels

  • Horses


Mechanism of Action

Ketoprofen inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and resulting in anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 3 mg Ketoprofen/kg body weight

  • (Equivalent to 1 ml per 33 kg body weight)

  • Once daily for 1–3 days

Horses:

  • 2.2 mg Ketoprofen/kg body weight

  • Once daily for up to 5 days

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Intravenous (IV) (slow injection)


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to ketoprofen or other NSAIDs

  • Gastrointestinal ulcers

  • Severe renal or hepatic impairment

  • Do not use in dehydrated animals


Side Effects

  • Mild local irritation at injection site

  • Gastrointestinal disturbances (rare)


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 4–5 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 3–4 days

  • Milk:

    • According to local regulatory approval


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze
