Iron (as Iron Dextran) & Vitamin B12 Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Iron (as iron dextran) ................. 200 mg

  • Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) ..... 200 μg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Hematinic – Antianemic preparation.


Indications

IRONNOR B12 is indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia, particularly in young and rapidly growing animals, and in cases of:

  • Iron deficiency anemia

  • Nutritional anemia

  • Weakness and poor growth

  • Post-parasitic or post-hemorrhagic anemia

  • Support during stress, transportation, and recovery

Vitamin B12 supports red blood cell formation, appetite, and metabolic activity.

Mechanism of Action

  • Iron dextran replenishes iron stores necessary for hemoglobin synthesis.

  • Vitamin B12 stimulates erythropoiesis and supports protein and energy metabolism.

The combination ensures rapid and sustained correction of anemia.


Dosage & Administration

Piglets:

  • 1–2 ml per animal, preferably within the first 3–5 days of life

Calves, Lambs, Kids & Foals:

  • 1 ml per 10–20 kg body weight

Camels:

  • As directed by the veterinarian

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Subcutaneous (SC) (where appropriate)


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to iron dextran

  • Do not use in animals with iron overload disorders

  • Avoid intravenous administration


Side Effects

  • Temporary swelling at injection site

  • Rare hypersensitivity reactions


Withdrawal Period

  • Meat: Nil

  • Milk: Nil


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze
