Description

Hydrocortisone Injection is a corticosteroid preparation containing Hydrocortisone 50 mg/ml. It is used in racing horses to control inflammatory conditions, manage acute allergic reactions, and support stabilization of clinical conditions under veterinary supervision.


Composition

  • Hydrocortisone: 50 mg/ml

  • Suitable excipients for veterinary injection


Indications

  • Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions

  • Allergic reactions

  • Shock (as supportive therapy)

  • Reduction of edema, redness, and inflammation associated with injuries


Mechanism of Action

Hydrocortisone acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agent. It inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators, reduces capillary permeability, and helps relieve pain, swelling, and tissue inflammation.


Dosage and Administration

  • The dosage and duration of treatment must be determined only by a licensed veterinarian, based on the horse’s body weight, clinical condition, and severity of symptoms.

  • Administer by the route recommended by the veterinarian.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone or any of the excipients

  • Viral or fungal infections unless appropriate concurrent therapy is applied

  • Use with caution in pregnant mares


Warnings and Precautions

  • Prolonged or repeated use may result in immunosuppression

  • Withdrawal periods must be respected according to racing and competition regulations

  • Use strictly under veterinary supervision
