Antiprotozoal agent.

Indications

HALONOR® 0.05 Oral Liquid is indicated for the prevention and treatment of cryptosporidiosis caused by Cryptosporidium parvum, particularly in young animals.

Used for:

• Prevention of cryptosporidiosis in newborn calves

• Reduction of severity and duration of diarrhea

• Support of intestinal health in early life stages

Target Species

• Calves (newborn and young calves)

Mechanism of Action

Halofuginone interferes with the development of Cryptosporidium parasites by inhibiting intracellular stages, thereby reducing oocyst shedding and limiting intestinal damage.

Dosage & Administration

For oral administration only.

Calves

• 0.1 mg halofuginone/kg body weight/day
  (Equivalent to 2 ml per 10 kg body weight)
  Administer once daily for 7 consecutive days

📌 Start treatment within 24–48 hours after birth for optimal prevention.
📌 Administer directly by oral dosing syringe.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to halofuginone

• Do not exceed recommended dose

• Do not use in dehydrated or severely debilitated calves

Side Effects

• At recommended dose: generally well tolerated

• Overdose may cause:

  • Reduced feed intake

  • Diarrhea

  • Lethargy

⚠️ Strict adherence to dosage is essential.

Withdrawal Period

(Indicative – subject to local regulations)

• Meat:
  Calves: 13 days

• Milk:
  Not applicable (pre-ruminant calves)

Special Warnings

• Narrow therapeutic index – accurate dosing is critical

• Ensure adequate hydration during treatment

• Do not combine with other antiprotozoal agents unless advised
