Dexamethasone Injection

COMPOSITION
Each mL contains:
Dexamethasone ……………………………………… 2 mg
Excipients ………………………………………… q.s. to 1 mL
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASS
Corticosteroid (glucocorticoid) – anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and immunosuppressive agent.
INDICATIONS
GENADEX® is indicated for the treatment of conditions requiring rapid corticosteroid action, including:
Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions
Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis (supportive therapy)
Shock and stress-related conditions
Musculoskeletal disorders
Respiratory inflammatory conditions
Edema
Supportive treatment in ketosis and parturient paresis (as directed)
in cattle, sheep, goats, camels, horses, dogs, and cats, under veterinary supervision.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For intramuscular or intravenous injection, as advised by a veterinarian.
Large animals (cattle, camels, horses):
0.02 – 0.05 mg dexamethasone per kg body weightSheep and goats:
0.05 – 0.1 mg per kg body weightDogs and cats:
0.1 – 0.2 mg per kg body weight
Dosage and duration depend on the condition and clinical response.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or other corticosteroids
Viral infections (unless combined with appropriate therapy)
Gastrointestinal ulcers
Diabetes mellitus
Advanced pregnancy (may induce parturition)
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Immunosuppression with prolonged use
Polyuria, polydipsia, and polyphagia
Delayed wound healing
Risk of abortion when used during late pregnancy
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat: 8 days
Milk: 72 hours
(Subject to local regulatory requirements.)
PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration
Do not discontinue prolonged therapy abruptly
Avoid concurrent use with NSAIDs
Use with caution in stressed or debilitated animals

Protect from light
Do not freeze
Keep container tightly closed
Keep out of reach of children
