Indications

FLORNOR® 10 Oral Liquid is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by florfenicol-sensitive microorganisms, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections

  • Chronic respiratory disease (CRD)

  • Pasteurellosis

  • Colibacillosis

  • Salmonellosis

  • Enteritis

  • Secondary bacterial infections


Target Species

  • Poultry (broilers & breeders)

  • Calves

  • Lambs & kids


Mechanism of Action

Florfenicol inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, providing a bacteriostatic to bactericidal effect against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including strains resistant to chloramphenicol.


Dosage & Administration

For oral administration via drinking water or direct oral dosing.

Poultry

  • 20 mg florfenicol/kg body weight/day
    (Equivalent to 200 mg per liter of drinking water)
    for 3–5 consecutive days

Calves, Sheep & Goats

  • 10–20 mg florfenicol/kg body weight
    Once daily for 3–5 consecutive days

📌 Ensure medicated water is the only source of drinking water during treatment.
📌 Shake well before use.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to florfenicol

  • Do not use in animals intended for egg production for human consumption

  • Avoid use in animals with severe hepatic impairment


Side Effects

  • Generally well tolerated

  • Rare transient digestive disturbances

  • Decreased water intake may occur during treatment


Withdrawal Period

(Indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:
    Poultry: 5–7 days
    Ruminants: 7–14 days

  • Eggs:
    Not approved for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption


Special Warnings

  • Use only when bacterial infection is confirmed or suspected

  • Avoid unnecessary prolonged use

  • Observe antimicrobial stewardship principles

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from direct sunlight

  • Do not freeze

  • Keep out of reach of children

  • 24 months from date of manufacture

  • Use within 28 days after first opening
