Florfenicol 30% Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Florfenicol ........................................ 300 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable solution.


Therapeutic Class

Broad-spectrum antibiotic (Amphenicol group).


Indications

FLORNOR 30 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory and systemic bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to Florfenicol, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections (BRD)

  • Pneumonia

  • Pasteurellosis

  • Mannheimiosis

  • Salmonellosis

  • Colibacillosis


Target Species

  • Cattle

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels


Mechanism of Action

Florfenicol inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, resulting in bacteriostatic to bactericidal activity depending on concentration.
It is effective against bacteria resistant to chloramphenicol.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 20 mg Florfenicol/kg body weight
    (Equivalent to 1 ml per 15 kg body weight)

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Subcutaneous (SC)

Treatment schedule:

  • Single dose or repeat after 48 hours, as directed by the veterinarian.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to florfenicol

  • Do not use in breeding animals intended for reproduction

  • Do not use in lactating animals producing milk for human consumption


Side Effects

  • Transient pain or swelling at injection site

  • Temporary decrease in feed intake

  • Rare hypersensitivity reactions


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 28–30 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 21 days

  • Milk:

    • Not permitted for use in lactating animals


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze
