Description

DexaNor Injection is a potent corticosteroid preparation containing Dexamethasone 1 mg/ml. It is indicated for use in horses and other livestock to control inflammatory and allergic conditions, reduce edema, and support treatment of shock and stress‑related disorders under veterinary supervision.


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Dexamethasone (as sodium phosphate): 1 mg

  • Sterile aqueous vehicle q.s.


Pharmacological Class

Corticosteroid – Anti‑inflammatory, anti‑allergic, and immunosuppressive agent.


Indications

DexaNor Injection is indicated for:

  • Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions

  • Allergic reactions and hypersensitivity

  • Musculoskeletal disorders

  • Shock and stress conditions (supportive therapy)

  • Reduction of edema and swelling

  • Respiratory inflammatory conditions


Mechanism of Action

Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with strong anti‑inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators, decreases capillary permeability, and suppresses immune responses, resulting in rapid relief of inflammation, pain, and swelling.


Dosage and Administration

  • Dosage and duration of treatment must be determined only by a licensed veterinarian, according to the animal species, body weight, and severity of the condition.

  • Administer by intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection as directed by the veterinarian.


Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or any excipients

  • Viral or fungal infections unless appropriate therapy is instituted

  • Animals suffering from uncontrolled diabetes or severe renal impairment

  • Use with caution during pregnancy


Warnings and Precautions

  • Prolonged or repeated use may cause immunosuppression

  • Avoid sudden withdrawal after long‑term therapy

  • Observe withdrawal periods according to racing and food‑producing animal regulations

  • Use strictly under veterinary supervision


Adverse Reactions

Possible adverse effects include:

  • Increased susceptibility to infections

  • Delayed wound healing

  • Gastrointestinal disturbances

  • Hormonal imbalance with prolonged use
