Cefquinome 2.5% Injection


Composition

Each ml contains:

  • Cefquinome (as sulfate) ............... 25 mg

  • Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable suspension/solution (as formulated).


Therapeutic Class

Fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.


Indications

CEFQNOR 2.5 is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria susceptible to Cefquinome, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections

  • Mastitis

  • Septicemia

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Metritis and uterine infections

  • Cattle

  • Sheep

  • Goats

  • Camels


Mechanism of Action

Cefquinome inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in rapid bactericidal activity.
As a 4th generation cephalosporin, it shows high stability against β-lactamases.


Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep, Goats & Camels:

  • 1 mg Cefquinome/kg body weight

  • (Equivalent to 1 ml per 25 kg body weight)

Route of Administration:

  • Intramuscular (IM)

  • Subcutaneous (SC) (where appropriate)

Treatment duration: 3–5 days, or as directed by the veterinarian.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or β-lactam antibiotics

  • Do not use in animals with known severe allergic reactions to penicillins


Side Effects

  • Mild local reactions at injection site

  • Rare hypersensitivity reactions


Withdrawal Period (indicative – subject to local regulations)

  • Meat:

    • Cattle: 8–10 days

    • Sheep & Goats: 6–8 days

  • Milk:

    • According to local regulatory approval


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze
