Composition

Each ml contains:
Carprofen ........................................ 50 mg
Excipients ........................................ q.s. to 1 ml


Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable solution for veterinary use.


Therapeutic Class

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).


Indications

CARPONOR® 5 Injection is indicated for the management of pain, inflammation, and fever associated with:

  • Post-operative pain

  • Musculoskeletal disorders

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Inflammatory conditions

  • Post-surgical inflammation


Target Species

  • Dogs

  • Cats (according to veterinary judgment and local regulations)


Mechanism of Action

Carprofen selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects associated with COX-1 inhibition.


Dosage & Administration

For subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) injection.

Dogs

  • 4 mg carprofen/kg body weight,
    administered as:

    • Single dose, or

    • Divided into 2 doses of 2 mg/kg daily

Cats

  • Use only under strict veterinary supervision.

📌 Follow with oral therapy if required.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to carprofen or other NSAIDs

  • Gastrointestinal ulcers

  • Severe hepatic, renal, or cardiac impairment

  • Do not use concurrently with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids


Side Effects

  • Gastrointestinal disturbances (vomiting, diarrhea)

  • Injection site reactions

  • Rare hepatic or renal effects

⚠️ Discontinue treatment if adverse reactions occur.


Withdrawal Period

  • Not applicable (Companion animals only)


Special Warnings

  • Ensure adequate hydration

  • Use the lowest effective dose

  • Monitor liver and kidney function during prolonged therapy


Storage Conditions

  • Store below 25°C

  • Protect from light

  • Do not freeze

  • Keep out of reach of children


Shelf Life

  • 24 months from date of manufacture

  • Use immediately after first opening
